Nonprofit starting a Children's Museum/Subsidiary

We have a nonprofit organization called Casting Anchors, Inc. and we are opening a Children's Museum. Can Casting Anchors start a Children's Museum as a subsidiary? Has anyone else encountered this and how did you handle the separation?"
