Winter Attendance
Our museum struggles in the winter months, to the point where we have to cut open hours, staff, and programming. We are in a rural area in Northern Minnesota in a town of about 11,000. Our museum is one of the only indoor play spaces (besides McDonald's) in the area, and we have about 300 members, but there are days we barely see visitors in the double digits. I know the topic of training comes up a lot in here and everyone is always looking for resources so I thought id share a quick activity ive been doing with my team this week! Said: We have an automated system that alerts them 3 weeks out. Additionally, every Nov or Dec we call all expired memberships for the year. While this has modest success, we see most renewals occur the next time they stop in to visit.
